In Italy, the person responsible for bringing together the total process and brewing the resulting perfect espresso is called the “barista”. It is the Italian word for barman, the espresso machine usually being sited in the bar with the other drinks!
No matter what we choose to call the espresso machine operator, there is no doubt that person must have the knowledge to correctly manage the coffee and equipment, and have a dedicated and professional approach. The “barista” carries the responsibility to make, or break that special espresso brew resulting from beans expertly roasted and blended by our roastmaster. At the very least, the barista must have a basic understanding of the coffee grinder & Its effect on the total process.
